EVER INCREASING FAITH

Dr. Brenda Myree • Faith
As I have ministered to people on many different levels, I have heard the same thing said by manhy of them, "I just don't know if I have enough faith for that." The Word of God is explicit when it says that those who are just WILL live by faith. God has already given us THE MEASURE of faith we need in life. All we need to do is exercise our faith. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Just as a body builder needs to continually work his muscles to increase his strength, so to do we need to be continually hearing and hearing the Word of God to strengthen our faith. And, our faith will be tested and tried. I pray this article will be a blessing to you. God bless.

EVER INCREASING FAITH

Romans 1:17 King James Version (KJV)

17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Believers, those who have received Jesus as their Lord and Savior, those who are justified (just as if you have never sinned) are commanded to live by faith. Faith is the "currency" of the Kingdom of God. Whatever God has promised in His Word, you can access by faith. Faith is to be our lifestyle. We were saved by grace through faith. We need faith to successfully function in every area of our lives; our relationships, jobs, finances, children, for healing, for deliverance, for miracles. We are to live every area of our lives by faith and not according to the world's way of doing things. Anything we attempt to do outside of faith is sin and is not pleasing to God. We must live according to the law of faith in order to accomplish the purpose and assignment God has placed before each and every one of us.

Ephesians 2:8 (KJV)

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Romans 14:23 (KJV)

23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Romans 3:27 (KJV)

27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

So what is faith and how do we get it? Faith goes beyond just believing, it is knowing that we know, that we know that we know. Faith is not a movement but faith is designed to move things like mountains. Faith is the building block, substance or material for what you are believing or hoping for. It is the evidence that what you are believing for exists. The stronger your faith, the easier it is to pull things out of the spiritual realm into the natural realm. You build your faith by continuously hearing and hearing and hearing the Word of God. God has given each believer the measure of faith we need to believe for all things, it just needs to be exercised and matured. Jesus is the source of our faith as well as the one who completes it. The more we hear and meditate on His Word, the stronger our faith grows. We are to exercise our faith by believing in God's promises, not doubting in our hearts, until the promise manifests in our lives. While we are waiting for the product of our faith to manifest, we must prepare for it for faith without works is dead. One of the ways we work our faith while waiting on the manifestation is to decree, declare and confess God's Word. His Word will not return void but will accomplish what it is sent to do. He hastens His Word to perform it. We are to call those things that be not as though they already exist. The believer walks by faith and not what we see in the natural. That which we see, situations and circumstances are temporary but God's Word is eternal and can change anything. As we meditate on the Word, and get from our heads down into our spirits, and we confess God's Word, in faith, believing that we will have whatsoever we say, we will have whatsoever we say. David said that his heart burned within him as he mused or meditated on the goodness of God then he spoke. we have received the rhema or revelation of the Word we are standing on, then we can speak faith-filled words and watch the manifestation of the promise take place. The Word becomes flesh. Whether we are standing on promises for healing, finances, relationships, whatever, we keep confessing God's Word until we have received the end or manifestation of our faith. Remember that death and life are in the power of our tongue. There is power in your words, both good and bad and you will have whatsoever you say.

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)

11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Jeremiah 1:12 (KJV)

12 Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

Romans 12:3 (KJV)

3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Romans 10:17 (KJV)

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Hebrews 12:2 Amplified Bible (AMP)

2 Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Romans 12:3 (KJV)

3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

2 Corinthians 4:13 (KJV)

13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV)

7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

Mark 11:23 (KJV)

23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Psalm 39:3 (KJV)

3 My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue,

Romans 4:17 (KJV)

17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

As Holy Spirit-filled believers, we are in position to operate in the Gifts of the Spirit, those being: word of knowledge, word of wisdom, faith, gifts of healings, working of miracles, gift of prophecy, discerning of spirits, diverse kinds of tongues and interpretation of tongues. It takes faith to step into operating in these gifts through the Holy Spirit. As the Word says, by the proportion of our faith. The gift of faith is an extraordinary faith above and beyond our everyday faith. This type of faith, this great faith, comes upon us or bubbles out of us to do extraordinary things such as the working of miracles or gifts of healings. When Jesus walked the earth, He was filled with the Holy Spirit and operated in the gift of faith every time he raised someone from the dead, cast out demons, opened blind eyes and deaf ears, and healed the sick. He moved in great faith when he fed the five thousand, when He walked on water, calmed the seas and wind, controlling the natural with His supernatural. We also have this same supernatural faith available to us through the Holy Ghost. He operates through us as He wills according to the proportion of our faith and our willingness to cooperate with Him. Believers are to build up their faith by praying in tongues. We are to study the Word of God, God's way of doing things so we can do the same works as Jesus did and even greater works. We are to use our shield of faith against the tactics of the enemy. The larger our shield of faith, the more of the enemy's schemes, snares and traps we can avoid. We cannot be moved by the way things appear, situations and circumstances but are able to stay on track and focused on the prize the end of our faith.

Jude 1:20 (KJV)

20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Romans 12:6 (KJV)

6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

1 Corinthians 12:8-11 (KJV)

8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Romans 8:11 (KJV)

11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

John 14:12 (KJV)

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Mark 9:23 (KJV)

23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Ephesians 6:16 (KJV)

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

So how does faith work? Faith works by love. The scriptures say that God is love so it would be safe to say that faith works by God (Love) we can operated in the God kind of faith. Faith is not only a gift's of the Spirit, it is a fruit of the Spirit as well. Fruit must be cultivated and nurtured. The first fruit of the Spirit is love and faith hinges on love. We are not only to have the God kind of faith but the God kind of love for people. As Jesus walk from city to city, from village to village, He observed people who were oppressed and possessed of the devil, sick from all kinds of disease, those who were blind and deaf, the lame and the impotent. Jesus was moved with compassion for the people and healed them. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil. We should also be moved by compassion for the world, for those who are in need of salvation, healing or are oppressed by the devil. We are to carry forth the ministry of Jesus to the world. We are to show His love and compassion to others. We should do nothing for recognition or vain glory but, to glorify the Father. It doesn't matter how great your faith is if you do not show forth God's love. We are to be a reflection of Him and His representation in the world.

Galatians 5:6 (KJV)

6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

John 1:1 (KJV)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

1 John 4:8 (KJV)

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Acts 10:38 (KJV)

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Philippians 2:11 (KJV)

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Matthew 14:14 (KJV)

14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

Matthew 20:32-34 (KJV)

32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?

33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

Galatians 5:26 (KJV)

26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 New King James Version (NKJV)

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
